Procession of the Black Nazarene 2008 / Quiapo
I am not really ready to blog but I don’t want to leave you with the Santa Claus for the whole month of January... I also want to share a few pictures of the Procession of the Black Nazarene that was held in Quiapo on January 9. It is the third year that I cover this event and I find it still the most amazing and adrenaline filled event I ever witnessed. According to the police more than 2.6 million people went to Quiapo for the Black Nazarene. Two people died and countless others were injured. I took some more risk this year and at a certain point I feared for my own safety. This is definitely not an event for the faint at heart.
More about the black Nazarene in my previous series. 2006 and 2007
For better viewing you should click on the images. My pictures appear too small but with more than 5000 pictures already published I have no other option than continue the way I started.
My regular blogging will resume on January 28 with a series about on the island of Negros. I hope you will visit again !
